Today we bring you a glorious dessert -Matcha Pound Cake à la Japonaise - from our lovely friend in Japan, Aya Sato, aka Ordinaire_Aya~

Aya’s Japanese roots and French know are combined in today’s green tea pound cake recipe - the phrase“à la Japonaise” means“from Japan” in French after all. You’ll find this unique combination of light, fluffy French sponge and Japanese matcha easy to make and totally irresistible.

You’ll also be mixing in kuromame, also known as sweet black soybeans. In Japan, these are traditionally served as a dessert, often on New Year’s Day as a part of Osechi Ryori, Japan’s New Year feast.

Kuromame help the Japanese keep their weight down and stay healthy and they are super easy to make. Just follow this recipe here.

The kuromame soybeans are traditionally cooked with iron nails to improve the color. But if you want to skip that part, just follow this metal free recipe here :) or substitute with chocolate chips. It’s definitely the nice combo as well!
