Cookies are one of the easiest desserts to make and everyone loves them. Whether they’re chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal cookies, or just plain and simple sugar, cookies are loved by all.
Recently we’ve noticing people are experimenting with putting matcha in their cookie mixes and creating bold new flavours, giving a twist to this all time classic dessert. So today we’d love to share with you a simple, easy, yet super delicious recipe forMatcha + Earl Grey Tea Cookies by the lovely Jenni, aka@jenni_cheechee.

Jenni’s gorgeous cookies recipe is inspired by two different cookies recipes:Matcha Cookies andEarl Grey Tea Cookies.
She combined the two to create something new, cookies flavored with both Matcha and Earl Grey tea - a delightful combo in just one bite!
Matcha + Earl Grey Tea Cookies
Yield: about 70 cookies
Ingredients
Matcha Cookies
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ⅝ cup caster sugar
- ½ egg, beaten
- 2 tbsp matcha powder
- 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 ¼ tsp baking powder
Earl Grey Cookies
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ⅓ cup powdered sugar
- 1 ¼ cup flour
- 2 Earl Grey teabags
Method
Matcha Cookies
- Cream butter and sugar until smooth
- Mix in the beaten egg well
- Sift flour and matcha powder together
- Mix gently the flour mixture to the wet mixture until it is doughy
- Refrigerate the dough for about 30 mins
Earl Grey Cookies
- Cream the butter and sugar till fluffy
- Mix in the flour and the tea until dough comes together
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for 30 mins.
Shaping Cookies
- Roll both doughs into ½ cm thick balls
- To mix the two flavours in one cookie, press 2 equal-sized balls of the 2 doughs together
- Shape the balls into the characters or shape with cutter or by hand
- Use toothpick to draw the features for the characters
- Place them on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper

Bake them at 175oC in a convectional oven for 8-10 mins
NOTES: For the Earl Grey cookies, the dough can be stone hard after refrigerating for 20 mins. It’ll soften really quickly after leaving the dough out for a few minutes.
