This dairy-free Matcha Green Tea Waffles recipe is super simple and tasty. If you love the earthiness and grassy flavor of matcha, you can’t go past this delightful brunch recipe. Top the waffles with coconut flavored whipped cream, chocolate and pistachios, and the result is an incredibly gorgeous brunch treat.

Vegan Homemade Green Tea Waffles

Super moist and earthly Matcha Green Tea Waffles topped with coconut whipped cream & vegan chocolate for the relaxing weekend


  • 1½ cups plain flour (or wholemeal if you prefer)
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • 1-2 tsp vanilla powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Dash of salt
  • 1½ tbsp matcha
  • 1½ almond milk
  • 2 tbsp melted coconut oil, and an extra dash to grease your waffle iron with
  • ¼ cup rice malt syrup (or 3⅕ tbsp brown sugar)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar


  1. Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl until well combined.
  2. Add the wet ingredients.
  3. Mix well until combined.
  4. Prepare the waffle iron by greasing it with melted coconut oil.
  5. Dollop the batter onto the prepared waffle iron.
  6. Cook for one minute or until golden
  7. Stack the waffles on a serving plate.
  8. Top with whipped coconut cream, shredded vegan chocolate and chopped pistachios, or any other topping of your choice.

Lovely green color powder

First matcha purchase!

So far I have made tea cookies, raw nut/fruit balls, smoothies, and plain matcha with cashew milk and it's all good to me! Don't have much to compare it to but a chain coffee shop latte experience years ago. I learned the amazing benefits that make the cost of matcha well worth the price.

I have yet to receive my order

This review is not about the quality of the set, but based on my customer service experience. Placed my order on April 13th, got shipping notification on April 14th, and the last shipping notification I got was April 16th saying USPS was awaiting the item in Buena Vista, CA. Emailed customer service April 22nd and received a response the same day from a member of your team saying he would inform me once he receives info from usps. I also contact usps and they stated they have no information regarding the package. As of today, April 27th, I have yet to receive any information about my order. This was meant as a gift that will now be late. Was very excited to try the set and the matcha, but this experience makes me doubt if I will order from Kenko again, unfortunately. Would appreciate this problem being solved as soon as possible. Thank you.
